PROGRAM: "SHAKESPEARE 460: ROMEO & JULIET"

The festival will close with the most famous playwright whose work has inspired composers for 460 years since his birth next year. To mark William Shakespeare’s anniversary, PKF–Prague Philharmonia will perform the most famous play "Romeo and Juliet" in four musical settings by composers from two centuries, accompanied by Les Ballets Bubeníček ensemble in a choreography by Jiří Bubeníček.

At the heart of "Festival Krumlov"

What was 32nd International Music Festival Krumlov?

The 32nd edition of the festival featured over 30 concerts across 12 venues, with four of them hosting exclusive premieres.

The grandeur of the festival reached its zenith with the spectacular inauguration of "French Night" at Letní jízdárna. This standout event not only set the tone for the entire festival, but also etched itself as one of its defining highlights. The stage came alive with the masterful performance of pianist Alexander Melnikov, complemented by the graceful movements of dancers from Les Ballets Bubeníček, skillfully directed by the esteemed artistic director and renowned choreographer, Jiří Bubeníček M.A. Adding to the allure were the participants from the 1st Bubeníček Ballet Masterclasses, meticulously organized by Mr. Bubeníček himself with friendly support by Festival Krumlov. Audience witnessed a mesmerizing spectacle that beautifully showcased the nuances of romanticism and impressionism, leaving an indelible mark on the festival's rich tapestry of performances.

Another Highlights included the captivating Bernstein Meets Gershwin, featuring stars from New York Broadway, and the vibrant Viva Espaňa with guitarist Pablo Aguirre and Spanish vocalists.

Soprano Simona Šaturová took the stage at the Il Boemo & Wranitzka concert, featuring the renewed premiere of Pavel Vranický's Forest Girl ballet. Chamber concerts featured performances by the Smetanova Trio and Josef Špaček with Miroslav Sekera. Jan Budař brought the world of classical music closer to parents and children through the enchanting NEVAZÁNÁ CLASSICA concert.

The festival reached its pinnacle with the grandeur of Famous Opera Choirs and Carmina Burana, featuring the Czech Philharmonic Choir Brno and stellar soloists Adriana Kučerová, Anthony Gregory, and Boris Prýgle. The diverse array of performances showcased the richness and depth of classical music, making the 32nd edition a truly memorable experience for all attendees.
